Though in most ways a very different world than our historical one, many of the themes and issues—racism, environmental degradation, climate change, prejudice, political and cultural corruption—we grapple with on a day-to-day basis get played out here in dramatic ways. Winner of the 2016 and 2017 Hugo Awards for best novel, many of the stories in these three books illustrate our theme of Natural Hierarchy. Most of the common people are divide into 4 main classes: strong back workers, leaders, breeders, and technological engineers.
